They’re made to pack down small - great if you need to drive them around or don’t have a lot of storage. You can see how they work in this video from Austin (which has some other rather interestingly designed portable obstacles as well).

Note that they “hinge” when too much lateral force is applied on the wrong side (see 2:12). This is a necessary evil for this design - otherwise they’d be hard to assemble. We think that problem can be overcome with some sort of lock or tie.

We just might have to build some and play with this idea in the lab :)
